Videonale Lagos – Changing City, Moving Videos
September 29th, 7 pm // ACADEMYSPACE, Akademie der Künste der Welt, Cologne
With approximately 15 million inhabitants, the Nigerian capital Lagos is Africa’s most populated urban area and most rapidly developing metropolis. How is the city changing? Where are spaces emerging, where are they disappearing, and why? Where do public spaces continue to exist, and where do private interests take control over urban areas? And what strategies can be put into place to suspend possible limitations? Such were the questions at the center of a collaboration between the Videonale Bonn and the Video Art Network (VAN) in Lagos, entitled Changing City—Shifting Spaces.
